IMDEA Energy is opening a Senior Researcher Position for the Biotechnological Processes Unit, looking for a talented and motivated candidate to work on microbial fermentation technology to produce biofuels and biochemicals.

Tasks Description:.

• Prepare and/or coordinate project proposals for public and private funding organizations, including European Projects to raise funding.
• Perform and lead research lines on organic wastes conversion to biofuels and biochemicals through yeast and/or bacteria fermentation processes.
• Participation in the definition and execution of the scientific and strategic action plan of the Unit, as well as in the economic management of the budget.
• Establishment of collaborations with companies, universities and research centres, both national and international.
• Planification of scientific and dissemination activities of the Unit.
• Publication of scientific results in high impact journals and communication and dissemination of the results.
• Supervision and training of the researchers and technical staff of the unit.

Compulsory Requirements

• PhD degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biotechnology or a related discipline.
• More than 12 years of research experience after receiving the PhD degree.
• Proved experience as Principal Investigator of both national and international projects (including H2020, Horizon Europe or similar).

• International research experience in renowned laboratories.
• High track-record of indexed scientific publications, mostly those related with the research topic.
• Accreditation I3, R3 or equivalent.
• Wide experience in supervision of Internships, Master Thesis and PhD Thesis.
• Experience in project management, team leadership and in securing funding and resources for research.
• Participation in evaluation committees of national/international research calls and PhD Thesis defenses.
• Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.
